Challenge rules
Consistency (best day)
Updated
How the best-day rule works to pass and to claim, how it is counted, a worked example, and how to meet it with more good days.
On this page
Some challenges have a consistency rule: your best day can be at most a set share of your profit. It means a step is passed, or a reward earned, over several days rather than on one lucky day.
How it is counted
- Best day: your biggest closed profit in one UTC day (00:00 to 00:00 UTC), since the step started or since your last claim, today included.
- Profit: your balance minus the account size.
- The rule: your best day is at most the set % of your profit.
Only closed trades count, on the day they close, after any commissions and overnight fees charged that day.
The % is on the challenge's Rules tab. In the challenge editor, creators choose 50%, 40%, 30% or 20%. The lower it is, the more your profit needs to be spread over different days.
To pass and to claim
A challenge can have the rule to pass, to claim, both, or neither.
- To pass: a step passes only when the rule holds, as well as the target and every other rule. Instant challenges have no steps, so they don't have this one.
- To claim: you can claim only when the rule holds for the time since you were funded, or since your last claim.
Your best day starts over at each new step and after each claim.
A worked example
A $10,000 1-step challenge with an 8% target ($800) and a 40% consistency rule to pass:
| Day | Closed profit | Total profit | Best day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | $500 | $500 | $500 |
| Tuesday | $200 | $700 | $500 |
| Wednesday | $100 | $800 | $500 |
| Thursday | $250 | $1,050 | $500 |
| Friday | $200 | $1,250 | $500 |
On Wednesday you reach the $800 target, but your best day, $500, is 62.5% of your profit: over 40%. For $500 to fit, your profit needs to be at least $1,250, because 40% of $1,250 is $500. On Friday your profit reaches $1,250, and the step passes on that close, with nothing open.
How to meet it
The rule is met with more good days, not fewer. Each day that closes in profit, below your best day, raises your total without raising your best day.
- A losing day lowers your total but leaves your best day where it is, so it takes you further from the rule.
- If one day was very big, you don't need to undo it. Keep trading steady, smaller days until your total catches up.
- To find the profit you need, divide your best day by the rule's %: $500 at 40% needs $1,250. When you claim, the claim screen shows this number for you.
A good habit is to keep each day's profit well under the rule from the start, so your best day never gets far ahead.
