Challenge rules
Standard and Raw accounts
Updated
Standard pays the spread only. Raw pays the real spread plus a commission on most markets. Today's costs on each market, and which suits you.
On this page
Every challenge is one of two account types. The rules are the same; only how trades are charged differs. The challenge's Rules tab shows its type.
Standard
The spread only, no commission. Your price is the real market spread, widened by a small markup, half on the buy price and half on the sell price.
Raw
On most markets, Raw has no markup: you trade at the real market spread, and pay a commission on each side of every trade instead, opening and closing, as a % of the trade's value. On indices, today, Raw has the same small markup as Standard and no commission.
Today's costs
The markup and the commission are a % of the trade's value: its size times the price. The real market spread comes on top, the same on both types.
| Markets | Standard markup | Raw markup | Raw commission, each side |
|---|---|---|---|
| BTC, ETH | 0.02% | None | 0.035% |
| Other coins | 0.04% | None | 0.035% |
| Gold | 0.01% | None | 0.0035% |
| Silver | 0.03% | None | 0.0035% |
| Oil (WTI, Brent) | 0.03% | None | 0.0035% |
| Forex (EUR/USD, GBP/USD) | 0.01% | None | 0.0035% |
| Indices (SPX500, NAS100) | 0.01% | 0.01% | None |
| Stocks | 0.03% | None | 0.02% |
The other coins are SOL, BNB, XRP, DOGE, LTC, HYPE and SUI. A commission of 0.0035% is $3.50 per $100K of value.
Overnight fees are the same on both types. See Overnight fees.
Worked examples
A round trip, opening and closing, pays the markup once, inside the spread, and the commission twice.
- Gold, 1 lot at $4,000, so $400,000 of value. Standard: the markup costs $40. Raw: $14 to open and $14 to close, $28 in all.
- Bitcoin, 0.1 BTC at $100,000, so $10,000 of value. Standard: the markup costs $2. Raw: $3.50 to open and $3.50 to close, $7 in all.
Commissions come off your balance as you trade, so like any cost they count toward your loss limits.
Which suits you
With today's numbers:
- Raw costs less on gold, silver, oil and forex.
- Standard costs less on crypto and stocks.
- Indices cost the same on both.
If you mostly trade one kind of market, pick the type that is cheaper for it. Standard is simpler to read: the spread you see is all you pay per trade. On Raw, each trade's commission shows in its fees. See Spreads and commissions.
