Time limits
Updated
How a step's time limit is counted from the purchase or the step's start, rounded up to 00:00 UTC, and why funded accounts never expire.
On this page
Some challenges give each step a time limit. Others have none, so you can take as long as you need. The challenge's Rules tab says which.
How long
A time limit is 30, 60 or 90 days a step, or none. Each evaluation step gets the full limit.
When it starts
- Step 1: from the moment you buy, not from your first trade.
- Later steps: from the moment you passed the step before.
The account shows how long you have left.
When it ends
The end is rounded up to the next 00:00 UTC, so your last day is always a whole UTC day. Your step needs to pass before then.
Example: you buy a challenge with a 30-day limit on 12 November at 15:20 UTC.
- 30 days later is 12 December at 15:20 UTC. Rounded up, step 1 runs to 00:00 UTC on 13 December.
- You pass step 1 on 20 November at 10:00 UTC. Step 2's 30 days run to 20 December at 10:00, rounded up to 00:00 UTC on 21 December.
If time runs out
If the step hasn't passed by then, the account ends at that 00:00 UTC. Open positions close at the live price and pending orders are cancelled. See What ends an account.
Your right to a refund before your first trade lasts while the account is open, so on a challenge with a time limit, it ends when the time runs out.
Funded accounts never expire
Time limits are for the evaluation steps only. Funded accounts, and instant ones, have no time limit, and they never expire for being inactive. You can take a break and come back.
