Paying
Pay by card
Updated
Pay for a challenge by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through MoonPay, from $20, and what happens if a payment fails or arrives late.
On this page
At checkout, choose Card to pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The payment goes through MoonPay and is charged in US dollars.
What you pay
Checkout uses your Runtiler wallet balance first. The card pays only the part your wallet doesn't cover. If your wallet covers the whole price, there is nothing to pay by card, and the button reads Pay $X from wallet.
- The card is charged in USD, for exactly the amount missing. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts it at its own rate.
- Card payments start at $20. If less than $20 is left to pay, the card option is greyed out ("From $20, through MoonPay"). You can pay the rest with crypto instead.
- If MoonPay can't take a payment at that moment, the card option says "Not available right now", and crypto is the way to pay.
- Runtiler adds no fee. MoonPay's own terms apply to the card payment.
Checkout suggests the way your device pays: Apple Pay where your browser has it, Google Pay on Android, otherwise a card.
How it works
Your card buys USDC from MoonPay, and MoonPay sends it to your own Runtiler wallet on Polygon. As soon as it lands, your wallet pays the price and your account opens. This is why your receipt says the price was paid "in USDC from your Runtiler wallet".
ID checks
MoonPay may ask you to verify your identity before it takes a card payment. That check is MoonPay's. Runtiler doesn't ask for ID to buy a challenge.
How long it takes
After you pay, checkout waits for the money to land: "Usually a few minutes." Your price, and your code if you used one, are held for 30 minutes, with a countdown on the page.
When the money arrives, you see "Payment received. Opening your account.", then Payment complete. If you leave the page while it waits, it opens again the next time you visit your profile.
If something goes wrong
- You closed the card window before paying. You see "Card payment not completed." Nothing was charged, and your price is still held, so you can tap pay again.
- Your card was declined. Nothing is charged. Try again, or pay with crypto.
- A little less arrived than the price. The page shows what arrived and what is still missing. Add the rest to your wallet before the 30 minutes end, and the purchase completes.
- The money arrives after the 30 minutes. You see "Payment not received". Nothing is lost: when the USDC arrives, it stays in your Runtiler wallet. Buy again and your wallet pays in one tap, or withdraw it.
- The challenge is no longer for sale when the money lands. Your money is in your Runtiler wallet, and you can choose another challenge.
