Creating challenges
Create a challenge
Updated
The challenge editor screen by screen, every choice it offers, the live price, names, drafts, and how buying your challenge creates it.
On this page
You can make your own challenge in the editor. You pick the rules, Runtiler sets the price from them, and buying it creates it. Once it is created, you can publish it on your profile so anyone can buy it.
Where to start
- Make yours on the homepage opens the editor.
- The sentence in the homepage's "Make your own" section opens it with that account size picked.
- Create a challenge on your profile's Challenges tab opens it too.
If you are signed out, you sign in first and the editor opens after.
The editor, screen by screen
The editor asks one question a screen ("Question 3 of 10"). Next moves on, the back arrow goes back, and Skip to review jumps to the end. Once you pick a size and a type, the editor fills in a common set of rules to start from. Change any of them.
| Screen | What you choose |
|---|---|
| Account size | $5K, $10K, $25K, $50K, $100K or $200K |
| Challenge type | Instant (funded from day one), 1-Step, 2-Step or 3-Step |
| Profit targets | One per step, 1% to 20% in 0.5% steps. Each counts from the full size. |
| Max drawdown | 2% to 20% in 0.5% steps. Drawdown type: Static, Trailing, end of day or Trailing, live. A trailing floor can also Lock at starting balance. |
| Daily drawdown | None, or Set a limit from 0.5%, always at least 0.5% below the max drawdown. When hit: Fail the account or Pause until tomorrow. The day resets at 00:00 UTC. |
| Trading days | Minimum trading days, 0 to 20. With 1 or more, Count only profitable days with a minimum profit per day of 0.25% to 2%, in 0.25% steps. Time limit: None, 30, 60 or 90 days. |
| Account type | Standard (spread only, no commission) or Raw (tighter spread plus a commission) |
| Rewards | Reward split, 50% to 100% in 5% steps. Claims: Any time, Weekly or Every 2 weeks. Minimum claim, $0 to $1,000 in $50 steps. |
| Extra rules | Consistency rule to pass and to claim: Off, 50%, 40%, 30% or 20%. Fee refund with the first reward: on or off. |
| Review | Every rule as a plain sentence. Tap one to change it. |
An Instant challenge has no steps, so it skips the targets and trading days screens and has no consistency rule to pass.
A choice that would break another rule is dimmed. The fee refund switch is dimmed when no price can cover the refund for those rules.
The rules each choice sets are explained in max loss, daily loss limit, trading days, time limits, consistency, Standard and Raw and fee refund.
The live price
Once you pick a size and a type, the price shows at the bottom of every screen. It updates with each change, and the control you touched shows how far it moved, like "Price +$7". Under it you see what you earn a sale at your current share, or "Only you can buy it" if the challenge won't be published. See how prices are set.
Already exists
As you choose, the editor checks your own challenges first, then other creators' public ones. If one has the same size and rules, you see Already exists with its name, creator and price. The main button then buys that one for its price. To make yours, change one rule.
Name it
On the review, name your challenge: one or two words, up to 10 letters or numbers each. Only English letters and numbers are kept, and each word starts with a capital. Nothing is filled in for you, so tapping Buy without a name takes you to the name field. Each of your challenges needs a different name.
Drafts
Once you pick a size, Save draft keeps your choices. Tap Saved again to remove that draft. Your drafts are on your profile's Challenges tab: tap one to reopen it on its review. Deleting a draft shows Undo for 5 seconds. You can keep up to 50 drafts.
Creating means buying
The review's button reads Buy for and the price. Your challenge is created when your purchase of it is confirmed: your account opens on its rules, and the challenge is yours. Until then it stays a draft. A code that covers the whole price shows Start for free instead.
Whether others can buy it is the Publish on your profile switch on the review. See publish and share.
